Our Shabbat Services
Romemu Brooklyn meets for Friday Kabbalat Shabbat monthly all-year round, as well as Saturday Shabbat morning services monthly, from September through June. We currently gather on the third floor of Luria Academy at 664 Bergen Street, 3rd floor, Brooklyn.
Kabbalat Shabbat on Fridays
We are blessed to be uplifted in musical prayer by Hazzan Basya Schechter and Rabbi Ben Perlstein each Friday we gather. We have a circle of incredible musicians who elevate our prayer and voices, including percussionist Shai Wetzer, guitarist Avi Fox-Rosen, and guitarist Oren Neiman. Many members of our sacred community bring their gifts through poetry, leyning (chanting Torah), kavanot (intentions), and musicianship (accompaniment, Community Choir, and Community Band). We have creative Shabbat- and holiday-themed activities for kids so children can either enjoy services with their families or safely engage in meaningful Jewish experiences while their adults daven.
From spring to fall, doors open at 6:00pm and services start at 6:30pm. During the winter, doors open at 5:30pm and services begin at 6:00pm. Kabbalat Shabbat is approximately 90 minutes and dinner immediately follows. (Check out our online calendar for the timing of specific dates.)
We are excited to have Friday night dinner with you! Menus vary but typically include Mediterranean fare and kid-friendly choices. Meals are always vegetarian with gluten-free and dairy-free options. We encourage potluck beverages (especially wine and other libations) and desserts.
Friday Meal Prices
Member Price - Free* with pre-event registration by midnight Thursday (i.e. filling out our Shabbat dinner form).
Guest Prices
Early Bird Prices (when you register before midnight the Sunday before Shabbat):
$20 - People ages 13+
$8 - Kids 3-12
Free - Kids under 3
Regular Prices (when you register after Early Bird but before midnight the Wednesday before Shabbat):
$25 - People ages 13+
$12 - Kids 3-12
Free - Kids under 3
To help us order an accurate amount of food, this form will close at midnight the Wednesday before. Please RSVP ahead of time!

Shabbat Morning on Saturdays

Doors open at 9:30am and services start at 10:00am. We have kiddush around 12-12:15pm. (Check out our online calendar for specific dates.)
